Félix Tréguer, member of the DIGISOV project, recently published Technopolice: la surveillance policière à l’ère de l’intelligence artificielle. Editions Divergences, 2024. A presentation of the book is available here: https://www.editionsdivergences.com/livre/technopolice

Presentation:

Drones, predictive software, algorithmic video surveillance, facial recognition: the use of the latest control technologies is becoming commonplace within police forces. Far from curbing crime, all these innovations actually contribute to amplifying state violence. They constrain our political imagination and place the city under securitarian control. This book demonstrates that reality through experiences and knowledge shaped by recent struggles against police surveillance. From the security industry to the inner workings of the Ministry of the Interior, from the CNIL to the patrol officer’s vehicle, it traces the connections between techno-solutionist hegemony and the ongoing authoritarian drift.
